Maggie Burton @ The Battery Poetry Series

Join us for a night of poetry at The Battery Cafe featuring Maggie Burton, followed by a poetry open mic!

Maggie Burton grew up in Brigus, Newfoundland and Labrador and currently lives in St. John’s. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from MUN and enjoys writing text to be set to music with experimental pop duo Door Lock and the St. John’s New Music Collective, both projects in collaboration with Chris McGee. Her poems have been most recently published in Riddle Fence, Grain and Room. Her debut collection of poetry, Chores, will be released on April 1, 2023.

Open mic signup at the event. There are six five-minute slots available on a first come, first serve basis.

Doors open at 6:30, and the event will start promptly at 7:00.

Large tables (3-6 people) should be booked ahead of time on Eventbrite. Eventbrite sales end at noon on the day of the show; walk-ins may be available after that – please call 709-722-9167 to confirm . Masks are optional, but please stay home if you are feeling unwell.
