USING TRANSFORMATIVE LIFE EXPERIENCE TO WRITE FICTION workshop with Fawn Parker
In Fawn Parker’s Auto-Fiction workshop, participants will discuss and explore methods of using real life experience in fictional storytelling. Powerful fiction contains some level of truth, whether it is in action, character, or emotion. Obscuring true events through fictionalization introduces infinite opportunity for interesting, effective, and impactful prose, with human experience at its core. With examples from Parker’s forthcoming auto-novel Hi it’s me (M&S 2024), the group will work on visual outlines transferring their lived stories into literary plots, and develop an “elevator pitch” for an auto-fictional story or novel.
