The Storm Fairy is a children’s book about a little girl who becomes friends with the most feared fairy in her village.
While the rest of the villagers hide in their cottages and pretend the fairy isn’t there, young Erin decides to go out and meet her.

What she finds is a friend, magic, and a new way to see her world.

The author writes, “I wrote The Storm Fairy as a fairy tale about mental illness. The goal was to encourage children to look beyond the symptoms of the illness and see the person underneath. There are a lot of ways that people can find themselves isolated from the rest of society, such as trauma or illness, cognitive, age or physical differences, so the book is helpful to a wider group of people than I first thought. The heart of the story is how friendship can make frightening things a little less scary, and that with a little creativity and effort, ways can be found to bring folks in from the storm.”
