Word Feast Spring Reading

January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am UTC

Please join Word Feast: Fredericton’s Literary Festival for a reading and open multilingual set on March 20, 2022. If you would like to attend or participate, register at: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMldeqgrDoqHNX8B_JZptAZhGf_t76GUU1t
World Poetry Day, March 21, was adopted by UNESCO in 1999 to “give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements.” UNESCO hoped to inspire the celebration of poetry all over the world, preserve endangered languages, and stimulate poetic expression through this day. In Fredericton, Argentine-Canadian poet Nela Rio organized multilingual poetry readings in co-operation with local and international organizations for many years. With the help of Nela’s colleague and friend Sophie Lavoie, Word Feast resumes this tradition on March 20.
The first set of the Spring Reading will feature the winners and the judge of the Word Feast Fredericton Playhouse contest on the theme of “In Flux.” In the second set, all writers are invited to share a five-minute reading of poetry or prose. We extend a special invitation to poets who write in languages other than English. Please register to receive the link.
