Tony Thomson’s debut novel About Face is published by Moose House Publications. About Face is a murder mystery set in the fictitious Nova Scotia County of Sterling. A missing college student and Ian Wallace, an awkward but thoughtful criminologist who teaches at the local college, frame the story. He occasionally rides shotgun with RCMP Constable Lauren Martin, who has a definite feminist bent. Working together on this case leads to something deeper for this unlikely couple. A plethora of kinky professors and other Valley characters pop into Ian’s imagination at odd times as candidates for murderers of the lost teen. Family secrets abound and the victim’s cryptic diary leaves clues concerning her fate. The tongue-in-cheek humour will cause many to chuckle. Ian’s quest for truth leaves us musing long after we have closed the book.
Tony taught criminology at Acadia for 34 years and now lives in Halifax.
