Here’s a look at the publishers keeping the province’s literary traditions alive and evolving. 

Bouton d’or Acadie

Bouton d’or Acadie was founded in 1996 to foster children’s literature in Acadia. Each year they focus on new publications that feature Acadian and Francophone culture. Bouton d’or Acadie prioritizes titles that abolish borders and build bridges between communities! They publish a variety of poetry, humour, nursery rhymes, and so much more. 

Éditions Perce-Neige

Perce-Neige is an Acadian publishing house that publishes books in French that showcase the richness, vibrancy and uniqueness of Atlantic literature. They have contributed to the development of literature and have helped ensure its promotion throughout the French speaking world since 1980. 

Goose Lane Editions

Goose Lane Editions is a vital part of Canada’s ever-morphing publishing landscape. Whether its Canadian fiction, poetry, art-books, or non-fiction, they provide book lovers with great reads that inspire, spur conversation, and stimulate minds. Goose Lane has been around for three decades, focusing their work on embracing diversity, fresh voices, and novel perspectives. 

Monster House Publishing

Monster House Publishing was created in 2014, after founder Paul McAllister decided to pursue his dream of publishing a children’s book. Since then, Monster House has been working with many Canadian professionals to help ensure quality books get into the hands of the right readers. 

Anchorage Press

Anchorage Press is a working lab consisting of an eclectic collection of hot metal and wood type, a Ludlow Typecaster and a Vandercook 219 Proof press. They are dedicated to the exploration of fine typography, as well as the handmade and innovative collaborations of text and image. 

Merlin Street Press

Merlin Star Press is a writer-founded publishing house based in New Brunswick, created by seven writers and an artist with a shared passion for storytelling. Guided by traditional publishing values, they carefully select manuscripts, provide thorough editing, and take on the promotion and distribution of their books. Donovan Street Press

Donovan Street Press, based in Atlantic Canada, began as the publishing home for Joe Mahoney and his father, Tom Mahoney, and has since expanded to include a range of talented authors such as Mark A. Rayner, Tanah Haney, Matt Watts, and Michael Antman. A traditional publisher that believes “money flows to the author,” DSP champions creativity through books and its podcast *Re-Creative*, produced in collaboration with MonkeyJoy Press. Their titles are available online and in select bookstores across Atlantic Canada, with a mission to share imaginative, thought-provoking stories with readers everywhere.
