What Book Should I Write? with Emma Května

Happy NaNoWriMo! National Novel Writing Month!

Writers often have TONS of ideas for books, usually too many to prioritize and choose from. Or, some writers will try to write one book that fits multiple themes and plots into it. Or they’ll try to write several books at once – it’s so hard to choose so let’s choose them all! When we have this commonly called ‘shiny object syndrome,’ it can be daunting to make a decision and get started, or make any worthwhile progress. Maybe you’ve started a book but now hardly work on it. How do you know that’s the book you should really be devoting time to right now? What if you lose interest along the way? What if you give up and switch to a different one and only ever have partially finished books? This workshop will help you figure out what book you’re meant to be writing right now in your life, what topics are important to you and how to write a book that will align with your goals and creative vision for the long run.

About the instructor:

Emma Května is a Canadian writer and poet with Czech roots, currently living in Nova Scotia on the traditional unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq Nation. Her work has appeared in Filling Station and is forthcoming in Planisphere Quarterly and the anthology “Framework of the Human Body” by Bell Press. In 2019, her short fiction was shortlisted in a UK writing contest. Emma is also a musician, artist, and proud Sagittarius.
