Join author/illustrator Emma FitzGerald (“Hand Drawn Halifax”), for a walk that encourages slowing down and noticing the ways that active transportation is transforming the city of Halifax through sketching on location. Through noticing together we can share what we think works, doesn’t work and could be even better!
This walk is inspired by her recent illustration project “City Streets are for People” which comes out May 1st, 2022. A children’s book written by Andrea Curtis, it is the third in Curtis’ Think City series, which to date has explored Urban forests, water in the city, and now, the history of Transportation, and ultimately what could be possible in a more sustainable future.
Bring a sketchbook/blank paper on a clipboard, a pen, and comfortable clothing (dress to be outside). Optional but not necessary – a cushion/small folding stool.
Accessibility notes:
The park is accessible and people will be doing their own ‘walk’ and collecting impressions of transportation through their sketches, so it can be to people’s own comfort level. No need to be an experienced sketcher, all welcome!
