Chris Benjamin Interviews Silver Donald Cameron for Final Episode of The Green Interview
Five years ago, in 2017, I had the privilege of Cape Breton author, playwright and journalist Silver Donald Cameron. It was no ordinary interview.
Silver Don and his thegreeninterview.com partner, Chris Beckett, had the foresight to do this as the final Green Interview, to be aired only after Don’s death. We hadn’t expected it to come as soon as it did, but I’m so glad they had that foresight, and so honoured Don chose me to do the interview.
Listening to this now, the breadth of his knowledge and depth of his insights is astounding. Of course he’d been informed by years of talking to brilliant pathfinders, people who don’t accept this world as a lost cause, and work tirelessly to find better ways to live, to trade, to learn, to love. That includes such luminaries as Jane Goodall, Farley Mowat, Vandana Shiva, David Suzuki, Ronald Wright, Stella Bowles, Todd Labrador, Edmund Metatawabin and a hundred others.
The Green Interview was old-fashioned television (with long, in-depth interviews, a book’s worth of information in each) in a new medium. For Silver Donald Cameron’s brilliance, this is well worth a listen.
The entire Green Interview series, more than 100 long-form interviews with environmental leaders from around the world, is now available at thegreeninterview.com and youtube.com/c/TheGreenInterview.
