Soren Bondrup-Nielsen

November 28, 2014 by Sandra Phinney

Merging Contemplations on Farming & Ecology from Horseback Soren Bondrup-NielsenIf you read the wraparound leaf on the back cover of Soren Bondrup-Neilsen’s book, Merging: Contemplations on Farming & Ecology from Horseback, you’ll learn that this book “… is about relationships and the way our perspective shifts as we become attuned to the workings of the natural world, merging with our surroundings and the creatures we share them with.”

Bondrup-Neilsen has a deep respect and affection for the land and its inhabitants. He invites the reader to accompany him by horseback on a journey into the agricultural landscape close to his home in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.

While on this jaunt, readers can expect some insights into farming and the challenges posed in the agriculture realm, as well as snippets of the cultural and ecological history and landscape that formed the region.

It’s a refreshing, informative ride and challenges the reader to consider the impact our choices have in relation to the food we buy, and how we treat nature.
