\t\t\t<p>Indigenous Peoples in Canada have experienced coerced sterilization under eugenics legislation since the 1930s, and the violence has never stopped, even though eugenics fell into disrepute. In\u00a0<em>The Genocide Continues<\/em>, Karen Stote traces the historical, political, economic and policy context informing the coerced sterilization of Indigenous women from 1970 onward. She shows how a powerful idea paved the way for the expanded violations of Indigenous People\u2019s bodies and futures. That idea was population control \u2014 a concern with who occupied land and how resources were distributed \u2014 and it was a central thread guiding public health interventions from eugenics to family planning.\u00a0<\/p>
