About the book:
In Painting Our Legacy, readers are introduced to a wide range of Mi’kmaq traditions, teachings, symbols, and more. Using the artistic medium of makeup, author and artist Raven Elwell Stephens combines her stunning makeup artistry skills with her rich and vibrant culture.
Created as a culmination of the experience she gained working with Future Wabanaki and Future NB, in partnership with Mount Allison University, Painting Our Legacy brings to life traditional practices and stories that were taught to Raven by her parents, grandparents, community members, and Elders. The result is a rich tapestry of invaluable knowledge presented in tandem with stunning self-portraits
