DESCRIPTION:????’???????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????????????????? ????’???????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????́???????????????????????????????????????????????? ????’????́???????????????????????????? ????????́????????????????????????????????́???? ???????????????? ????????????́???????????? ???????????????????????????????? \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/949437225943660/

SUMMARY:Battle Tales VII: Battle...With A Vengeance
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready? \nWe can’t hear you! \nWe SAID – Are… You… READY!!? \nYes\, it’s that time of year again\, folks! \nAll ye Battlers\, gather your skill\, sharpen your wit and bring your “A” (and E\, I\, O\, U and sometimes Y) game\, because the seventh annual Battle Tales has arrived! \nYour THREE prompts for Battle Tales VII: Battle…With A Vengeance ARE: \n1. The gnashing of teeth2. A gleaming blade3. A dark tower looming in the distance \nOur second pandemic winter is almost over\, and with it comes the (hopefully) last stand of a desperate virus cornered by the miracle of modern science and the resilience of humanity in the face of great odds. By summer beach season\, many will be vaxxed\, waxed and ready to relax\, but before we see sunnier and better days\, the bitter chill of winter must be warmed by the heat of glorious battle… \nIn the span of 2\,500 words or fewer\, we humbly ask for your best and brightest short fiction to entertain and enlighten. Wow our illustrious judge with adventurous tales of derring-do\, or scandalous stories of murder most fowl – maybe the chicken did it! Now he’s gonna FRY! \nWhatever creative choices you choose to employ\, your story MUST incorporate all three prompts listed above. Beyond that? The breadth of your fictional world is yours to explore and conquer\, limited only by your imagination! \nUse the prompts as your opening lines\, or as the seeds of a greater mystery afoot\, or as pivotal plot points – creatively or passively\, the choice is yours and yours alone! \nAnd now\, dear Battlers\, the stage is set\, the stakes have been raised\, and the clarion call has been sent out to one and all. But before Battle commences\, heed the rules so a fair fight may ensue: \n– No names on entries (judging is blind!) – You MUST be a resident of Prince Edward Island to enter– Stories must be 2\,500 words or less– Anything received by 11:59 pm on Saturday\, February 26th will be accepted \nAnd that’s it!
Dynamiques du polar « made in Africa » (Honoré Champion\, 2015). \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/668084974344582/

She had grown up without television or telephones but had absorbed the tragic stories and comic yarns of her close-knit family and community. The death of her infant brother marked the family\, and years later\, Morrissey suffers devastating guilt about the accidental death of her teenage brother\, whom she’d enticed to join her in the oilfields. Her misery was compounded by her own misdiagnosis of a terminal illness\, all of which contributed to crippling anxiety and an actual diagnosis of PTSD. Many of those events and themes would eventually be transformed and recast as fictional gold in Morrissey’s novels. \nIn another writer’s hands\, Morrissey’s account of her personal story could easily be a tragedy. Instead\, she combines darkness and light\, levity and sadness into her tale\, as her indomitable spirit and humour sustain her. Morrissey’s path takes her from the drudgery of being a grocery clerk (who occasionally enlivens her shift with recreational drugs) to western oilfields\, to marriage and divorce and working in a fish-processing plant to support herself and her two young children. Throughout her struggles\, she nourishes a love of learning and language. \nMorrissey layers her account of her life with stories of those who came before her\, a breed rarely seen in the modern world. It centers around iron-willed women: mothers and daughters\, wives\, sisters\, teachers and mentors who find the support\, the wind for their wings\, outside the bounds given to them by nature. And it is a mysterious older woman she meets in Halifax who eventually unleashes the writer that Morrissey is destined to become. \nAn inspiring and insightful memoir\, Pluck illustrates that even when you find your self unravelling\, you can find a way to spin the yarns that will save you–and delight readers everywhere. \nAbout the Author: \nDonna Morrissey has published six nationally best selling novels. She has received awards in Canada\, the U.S. and England and her novel\, Sylvanus Now was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Prize. Donna’s fiction has been translated into several different languages. She was nominated for a Gemini for her script\, The Clothesline Patch\, her novel Sylvanus Now was shortlisted for the Commonwealth prize\, and her latest novel\, The Fortunate Brother\, spent six weeks on the best seller list\, and won the Arthur Ellis Award for best crime novel of 2017. Her memoir\, Pluck was released this year (2021) by Penguin\, Canada and quickly hit the bestsellers list.
